I am approaching an event of epic proportions. An event two years in the making. An event that most dream of and yet, few realize.
And I started thinking.
It all started 23 months ago when I was walking my dog, Lila. Christmas was approaching and the day, as I remember it, was clear and crisp … not unlike the days we have been having as of late in my own little part of the world. My neighbor, Brad, was in front of his house working on his half ton pick-up that carried one of those campers on the bed. I hadn’t seen Brad in awhile and had known him for years so I said hello and asked him if he was gearing up for the holidays. His reply was that he was getting his rig ready as he and his wife were taking off just after the New Year for warmer locales “down south” where they would spend the next four months … the worst months in our neck of the woods … traveling. What an amazing opportunity and a whole lot of fun! I asked him a few details and then continued on my walk.
Why couldn’t I do that? And by I, of course, I meant me and my family. My husband and I both had job flexibility. We had a daughter entering high school the following fall. A four month sabbatical was a very real possibility in the next couple of years. And so we started to plan.
Which brings us to today … in 60 days, my husband, daughter and I will find ourselves embarking on this epic adventure. We have been saving our pennies and packing and purchasing and planning and organizing and we will be spending the first four and half months of 2018 traveling. After two years of putting our ducks in a row, this trip of a lifetime is fast approaching.
And I want to take you with me!
Cheers!
